Month one of my ToG has been completed. I've painted up Gront - a sort of Orc Pirate Sniper. Firstly - a huge model - I mean much bigger that my biggest Pirate model - it dwarfs Big Jenny!
As I am doing with all my models - an undercoat - I did until recently use Army Builder Black spray to achieve a good coverage and I've always used Black as a undercoat - its very forgiving!
However, I have moved on and am using this stuff from Halfords - Grey Primer. You get more for your money and its a lovely coverage. Just use it as you would for GW or Army Painter stuff.
Below - Gront Undercoated.
At this point I was going to do the Goblins with an overall colour scheme that involved Orange. Never done an orange army. Not going to do it this time. Didn't feel it fitted with Goblins and I think it might of ended up looking like alot of Day-glo jackets. It was painted over.
Below. Final Gront. I've found that purple seems to be my colour for Freebooters Fate. My pirates are a mixture of Black and Purple. For the Goblins I've included a good few colours.
- Purple - its a good contrasting colour with the Goblins Green skin. Also purple will be used as a colour for some of the Gribblies that the Goblins seem to collect.
- Yellow - this is a nice colour for anything that needs a highlight on a dark model. Also contrasts well with purple.
- Brown - wood etc - you can get away from it in Freebooters Fate.
- Grey - just a nice neutral colour for basic materials.
I'm using GW paints for ToG - always tend to since personally, I like alot of their colours and inks.
I'll try to put some more bits on when I get to it.
